Freelance Writing
I've been writing for magazines, newspapers and the web since the start of my career in the late 1990s. In the past decade, my focus has been primarily on travel, food and culture articles for publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and National Geographic Traveler, among others.
Below are links to a few of my favorite feature articles.
Road to Wellville
A very rough assignment. Billionaire Larry Ellison built a new super luxurious spa/resort called Sensai on the Hawaiian island he bought, Lanai. In short, it’s expensive as hell, a little odd, but overall delightful.
National Geographic Traveler

Heart Of The Andes
The one where I almost died mountain climbing. I was following in the footsteps of ridiculously interesting Alexander Von Humboldt through the Ecuadorian Andes and it was a lot. Not sure how he climbed those volcanoes in his early 19th century footwear.
The Wall Street Journal
(October 2015)
